Good Afternoon Gorgeous!
Here I am writing today about my wonderful Meatless Monday! (and you'll never believe it, we're adding a second meatless day to the menu!! Please welcome Thankful (Meatless), Thursdays!)
So a little insight into why i haven't posted in a while, and why i haven't been able to post, and the insanity / excitement that has been my life! (don't worry i was healthy through it all...well most of the time!)
Sooo anyways, we dredged around a bit looking for a new apartment to live in, because good god, we're tired of the tiny kitchen (its basically a measly hallway poorly placed that the bathroom enters into) we're tired of the living being the only room you can be in, we're tired of inconsiderate roommates who take 1/2 bathroom breaks, cause lateness to work, use all the toilet paper in the house (even what's not theirs), leaves random people no one knows in the house, in the house while he goes to buy smokes, allows random homeless people on the porch to drink beer during festivals, makes the kitchen smell like something died in it, claim they don't have the worst diet ever when all they eat is macaroni and cheese with ground beef in it, ramen noodles, and Chinese food with lots of MSG, is rotten to me and our other roommate Jim when Jeremy isn't around to yell at him...amongst many other things.
basically, if you're not in your bedroom you're in some one's way, and if you're not in someones way you're not home.
All In All we're ready to move (my apologies for my complain fest, but if i say anything to Jim or Jeremy it turns into full on hateful-ness and i really just want to move forward).
Sooooo, we looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and at about the 9Th place i looked at i started to get sad. Nothing was panning out to be what we three needed/wanted. We each had our own requests...
Mine- I want to sit at a dinner table when i eat, i want an eat-in kitchen, with lots of counter space, and i want off-street parking, and i want a dog.
Jeremy - I want more space, i want a place to play music without bothering anyone, I want a dog.
Jimmy - I want a garage, I want off-street Parking, I want a dog.
We also agreed to the majority of every one's wants and needs. let me tell you, a garage AND off-street parking were impossible to find, and the things that come with wanting/having a dog are also extensive, it involves a place for our puppies to sleep, a place for them to go to the bathroom, and a yard for them to run around in, preferably enclosed.
Things were NOT panning out how we had hoped, and we found two places we really liked, the first one was my favorite, it was colorful (a huge change from the drab smokers-teeth yellow) of the majority of the other apartments i saw. It also had a dining room, and a decent sized kitchen, even a second floor porch where we could put chairs and know they were safe! buuut it was missing a backyard, couldn't have a dog, and no off-street parking. The second was easily Jeremy and Jim's favorite, i even fell in love with it too, 20 ft tall ceilings, an enclosed porch and nook off of our bedroom giant sized living room (probably could've held an entire yoga class in there) the ceiling...horrendous, absolute nightmare, i hated it. but it had a garage, and off-street so i was going to settle...but then the landlord wouldn't budge on the rent, we couldn't afford it, he didn't want to rent it to us. When we found that out I began to lose hope, i thought we were going to get stuck with another shitty apartment, with no room, and be miserable. I went home and flopped on our bed in disappointment holding back many frustrated tears. Jeremy gave me a hug and told me it would be alright, and then we got a call from someone on Craig's list...
Smiling and signing me and my grumpy self up for an appointment to go see an apartment that evening at six oclock that afternoon - Jeremy smiled. He said that he thinks its the really nice house on that street and to check it out.
Jeremy left for work, and i changed and convinced myself to get up and go dragging my feet the whole time. Jimmy (who's a delivery driver and also working - met me there) There i was introduced to D.C. (that's our future landlord) i walked up the steps, into the front room, and said...hello, i live here. The kitchen was brand new, and HUGE! there was space to eat in it! with a table and everything!!! annnnd an enclosed back porch! with a garage! would you believe it?! and a drive way too!!! it also has four floors dedicated to us! four whole floors!! a huuuuge attic, that's insulated, a basement with a sink, and its a basement!! its not scary like most city houses, and we have a washer and dryer down there! :-) :-)
we were in love, the place was perfect, it had everything we wanted.
We are also allowed to paint it whatever color we'd like, and we can have cats and dogs galore...which naturally means upon moving in, we'll have an attic cat, and it will catch all the mice and i won't ever see a living one again. yipee!
but wait, it gets better our landlord looks just like Ben folds, and he's super laid back, and super cool. He used to live in the house because he loved it, and you can definitely tell, the kitchen, and the bathroom are really well updated. its beautiful.
It gets even better than that. Jeremy had interviewed for a grown-up job a few weeks ago, (like three!) and the suspense about finding out whether or not he got the position was killing us, well Thursday, he got it! no more pizza makin for my baby! he's joining the 9-5 ranks, very exciting for us, our combined income makes us giggle with excitement at the thoughts of week long paid vacations and group health insurance! We're definitely ready for this.
So, new apartment, new jobs, new lifestyles, new goals (ride our bike to the top of cobbs hill from our house without stopping), healthful eating, and not eating meat for two days a week, and limiting it to special occasions when we do eat meat!
I also am FINALLY getting my insurance license, which is soo beneficial and so great for me to have finally. no more "can you sign this" !!!!! so, i've been at class all week, sans computer, which by the way has been really difficult, i do so many things while at work besides updating blogs and facebookk stalking! I pay bills, and order things i felt like i was going through a severe withdrawl not having the world wide web at my fingertips...and thats whats even scarier!
speaking of which, i've already started deciding the Christmas gifts i'm giving, i'm trying not to procrastinate so that if i want to make anything that was special i could!
wheeeeee!
So i'm packing , I'm studying (for two state exams to get my license), I'm riding my bike all over the place, I'm eating breakfast two hours earlier, and I'm about to start school. Stressful, but loving it more than anything. Can't wait to move - life's kind of on hold until then.
I'm also going to visit my preggo friend. I want to go and help her out with some things.
I have been enjoying large amounts of melon, and coconut water to re-hydrate post serious biking and gym trips. Tonight I'm showing my mom and my sister the best view of the city, and taking them up to cobbs hill park. It's about a mile walk from my house, so that will be great.
So, theres my life update, I also have a recipe update - Vegan Pesto Pasta - mmm deeeelicious!
I'll post that later this week!!
until then, Eat A White Plum! they're in season, and delicious!!
oh yeah and support your local farmers! go to the farmers market!!
